After successfully manufacturing and installing the art and many of the decorative mirrors for the new state-of-the-art Bay Breeze Event Center, Kaleidoscope was asked to take on a small reframing project for a group of retired Air Force pilots. These pilots had been given a special room in the new center to replace their old meeting space, which was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Members of Kaleidoscope’s installation team collected and transported 24 framed images to our manufacturing facility in Midway, Florida. These pictures were in dire need of repair. Kaleidoscope’s Art and Design Director, Jackie Bigoney, got busy selecting the new frames and mats that would enhance the vintage art as well as harmonize with the design and color scheme of the room where the art was to hang.

On the day of installation, Kaleidoscope’s team was greeted by a welcoming committee of retired Air Force Pilots that were on hand to help with the placement of the art. As the art was being hung, the retired pilots shared with Kaleidoscope’s installation team the significance of each piece, including the fact that all of these pieces had survived Hurricane Katrina due to the determination of the pilots, several of whom waded through high water to rescue these important pictures.

This art represents a history of their group and they wanted to make sure it was saved and would be preserved for the future members of their organization. Kaleidoscope is honored to have been selected to handle this project and to help preserve their history.
